MPs have a unique role to play in promoting FORB, combatting discrimination and hatred, and protecting people’s human rights. Whether inside Parliament, with their constituents, or in the media MPs can be actors of positive change for FORB in the region.
For instance MPs can:
Submit a parliamentary question on FoRB issues;
Table a debate in your parliament on the situation of FoRB in your country or region and the government’s response;
Establish or join a cross-party group/caucus on FoRB in your parliament in order to consolidate advocacy activities in the longer term;
Support a prisoner of conscience detained solely for promoting Forb
Integrate FoRB in parliamentary processes, including representation, lawmaking, budgeting and oversight;
Promote FoRB in public meetings and recess activities;
Advocate for the creation of a special envoy or ambassador on FoRB;
Subscribe to SEAPFoRB Newsletter here; and
Share messages in support of FoRB on social media.
